Your Pet's First Visit

During your pet's initial visit, our board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist will perform a thorough examination of all structures of the eye, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, lens and retina, using specialized ophthalmic instruments.

As part of the exam, three essential diagnostic tests are routinely performed:

  • Schirmer Tear Test - measures tear production to assess for dry eye conditions.
  • Tonometry - evaluates intraocular pressure to screen for glaucoma or uveitis.
  • Fluorescein Staining - detects corneal ulcers or scratches by highlighting areas of damage.

These diagnostics, combined with a detailed visual assessment, allow us to accurately diagnose and tailor treatment for a wide range of ocular conditions in animals.

Appointment Policies

To help us provide the best possible care and stay on schedule for all our patients:

  • New Clients: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete necessary paperwork and allow time for a thorough intake process.
  • Returning Clients: We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early for all follow up appointments to ensure we have time to update records and maintain our schedule.

Arriving on time helps us to stay efficient and respectful of everyone's time, allowing our team to provide individualized care of each patient without delays.

"I can’t thank you enough for saving my eye. You are all so professional and friendly to all the animals and their parents. You make us feel welcome. Sorry I was so “spunky”, but I truly appreciate everything you did for me!! I’m still letting my mom give me that drop every day, but I’ll be glad once it’s done. Oh, and I still don’t like the cat that did this!"

“Checkers” as expressed by his family, the Bignalls
